First Baptist Church of Marion was established in 1862. Today, we continue to be a vital community of faith on mission to be God’s people and presence throughout the world.
Our church family emphasizes the fellowship of believers, encouraging one another to grow in relationship to Christ and His world. Our congregation values and cherishes the biblicallybased beliefs of our Baptist forebears including the autonomy of the local church, religious freedom, priesthood of all believers, the unique revelation of God in scripture, believer’s baptism, traditional worship, and hands-on Christian ministry
Our church seeks God’s will in worship, andin individual and corporate ministry andservice. As a servant church, we support ourneighbors with faithful concern forindividuals within the church andneighborhood, even to the ends of the earth.We believe that we are uniquely responsiblefor sharing God’s Good News and for makingour community a better one for all of itscitizens.
As we seek to accomplish our Christian ministry in unity and cooperation with other Baptistand Christian churches and bodies, we currently partner with the Western North CarolinaBaptist Fellowship, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, the CooperativeBaptist Fellowship (National), and the Baptist World Alliance.
